<p>By putting others ahead of yourself in small ways, you can experience a powerful connection with the people around you. And it all begins with common courtesy!</p>
<p><strong>Please and Thank You</strong></p>
<p>If you develop the habit of saying please and thank you, you&#8217;ll experience amazing benefits in all of your relationships. This is a simple way to show you care and that you appreciate the things people do for you. Your spouse will feel more loved. Your children will learn that you value them. The cashier at the grocery store will feel appreciated.</p>
<p>Instead of demanding what you want, ask in a calm tone of voice and say please. When someone does something for you, say thank you. These small changes don&#8217;t cost anything, but these words have the power to revolutionize your relationships.</p>
<p><strong>Let Someone in Ahead of You While Driving.</strong></p>
<p>Want an easy way to put yourself in a good frame of mind on your way to and from work? Leave the house a few minutes early. Look for an opportunity to let someone in ahead of you at a traffic light on the way. You&#8217;ll put a smile on their face and feel less frazzled at the same time.</p>
<p>Put some pleasing music on the radio and relax! When you see someone attempting to get into your lane, ease up on the gas pedal and give them some room to get in. You&#8217;ll still get there on time, but you&#8217;ll feel less stressed because of your new attitude.</p>
<p><strong>Let the Other Person Speak</strong></p>
<p>In conversation, you likely spend the majority of the time thinking about what you&#8217;re going to say next. As a result, you may end up interrupting or creating resentment in the other person and failing to hear most of what they&#8217;re saying.</p>
<p>Instead, let the other person speak without interrupting them. After they&#8217;re finished, ensure you understand what they&#8217;ve told you before you proceed. In addition to avoiding frustration and hurt feelings, you&#8217;ll often solve problems in less time by reducing misunderstandings.</p>
<p>With a few small steps, you can feel good about yourself and your contribution to the happiness of the people around you. In addition, common courtesy has the power to shift your focus from yourself to others. When you focus on others, you&#8217;ll feel a greater sense of happiness and self-confidence as a result.</p>

It also shows that you value the relationship and want to ensure that there are no hard feelings between you.</p>
<p>Even if you don&#8217;t feel like the situation was your fault, asking for forgiveness for your part in the argument may be the quickest way to smooth things over and save your relationship. A well-delivered apology can soothe hurt feelings and draw others closer to you. So, how can you express regret in a way that benefits you? <span id="more-572"></span></p>
<p><strong>Finding the Right Words</strong></p>
<p>Just saying that you&#8217;re sorry may be enough if it&#8217;s sincere. If you&#8217;ve really hurt a person&#8217;s feelings, though, you might want to say more. How long should your apology be? It should last as long as it takes to communicate sincerity and honesty. </p>
<p>The most important part of any apology is sincerity. Others can tell when your words are insincere. And an insincere apology usually makes the situation worse.</p>
<p>Express a willingness to accept your part of the blame. Some words you can use are:</p>
<p>•	I&#8217;m sorry.<br />
•	I apologize.<br />
•	Please forgive me.<br />
•	I know I&#8217;ve wronged you.<br />
•	I hate that this has come between us.<br />
•	What can I do to make things right?<br />
•	Can we talk out our differences?<br />
•	Please let me explain.</p>
<p>If you open the conversation this way, you demonstrate that you truly want to make things better. Swallowing your pride and admitting that you&#8217;ve wronged someone is easier than you think. Most will be receptive to your desire to repair the relationship and respond in a way that brings healing to both of you.</p>
<p><strong>Find an Opportune Time to Apologize</strong></p>
<p>The timing of your apology is critical. Take a time when the other person isn&#8217;t rushed. Even the most careful apology will fall on deaf ears if it is delivered at a time when the other person is hurried and focused on something else.</p>
<p>Ideally, make an appointment. Let them know that you have something important to discuss at their convenience. That way, you&#8217;re more likely to receive their undivided attention and have better results with your apology.</p>
<p>Be flexible and work around the other person&#8217;s schedule. Your willingness to be inconvenienced to accommodate the other person&#8217;s schedule is an important first step in communicating that you are sincere in your apology. </p>
<p>Show that you mean what you say, and follow it up with actions that demonstrate the truthfulness of your words. Actions speak louder than words, and what you do shortly after your apology can do more to heal your relationship than any words you can say.</p>
<p>Hurt feelings are an unfortunate part of the important relationships in your life. Thankfully, a thoughtful apology that considers the other person&#8217;s viewpoint can heal wounds that are caused by your mistakes. If you follow through with actions that show your sincerity, you stand an excellent chance of success in repairing the relationship and even making it stronger than ever before!</p>

You get up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and watch TV until you go to bed. You wash, rinse, and repeat. Are you tired of the same ol&#8217; boring routine?</p>
<p>The good news is that you don’t have to settle for a life of boredom and repetition. It takes very little to overcome your stale routine and experience more joy. Sometimes, a night alone in front of the television is the perfect way to unwind. However, sometimes you crave something a little out of the ordinary. Thankfully, there are many things you can do about it.</p>
<p><strong>Try one of these boredom-busting activities to liven up your day:</strong> </p>
<p>1.	Spend Time With A Friend. Sometimes, the best way to cure boredom is to visit a friend you haven&#8217;t <span id="more-558"></span>seen in a while. Catch up on old times and talk about the things that are important to both of you. Do something together that you both enjoy. Choose an activity you haven&#8217;t done in a while and reconnect. </p>
<p>•	Even when you&#8217;re feeling down and you&#8217;d rather be alone, try visiting a friend. Often, even a short visit can bring an unexpected feeling of joy. Plus, you&#8217;ll be doing something active instead of sitting at home and feeling blue about your challenges.</p>
<p>2.	Hit the Driving Range. Even if you’re not a golfer, hitting a bucket of golf balls as far as you can provides tremendous stress relief. Go with some friends and have a blast! When you get outdoors in the sunshine, your focus is bound to change and your perspective on life will be a much happier one.</p>
<p>3.	Visit Libraries and Bookstores. If you prefer peace and quiet, experience adventure without ever leaving your own familiar area. Visit your local library or a bookstore that encourages you to sit down and read. Many bookstores now offer coffee shops inside and comfortable chairs for those who want to sit a while. </p>
<p>•	Learn a new skill or engross yourself in a novel that takes your mind far away from the mundane cares of your everyday life.</p>
<p>•	You can even meet new people while you&#8217;re perusing the literature. Strike up a conversation with someone who has similar interests. You may just meet a new best friend who goes on to introduce you to many more exciting activities.</p>
<p>4.	Play Board Games. With the rise of video games and other forms of electronic entertainment, you may have forgotten how much fun board games can be!</p>
<p>•	Enjoy a few laughs with friends or family and your favorite board games of the past. Or try some of the newer board games. Whether the games are old or new, you&#8217;ll still make some great memories!</p>
<p>If you want to spice up your life and experience something different, the options available to you are endless. The only limit is an unwillingness to leave your comfort zone. If you&#8217;re proactive about getting out and enjoying some new experiences, you&#8217;ll be rewarded with a deeper connection to the world around you and a greater satisfaction with your life.</p>

After all, there&#8217;s a certain comfort in being set in your ways. However, opening your mind to the possibilities of new opportunities, knowledge, adventure, and even relationships could bring greater fulfillment and happiness to your life.</p>
<p><strong>Find Your Motivation</strong></p>
<p>In order to make it possible for you to embrace new ideas, it&#8217;s important to motivate yourself to try new things. Why do you want to become more open? Are you committed to it? Are you willing to take action to make it happen?<span id="more-496"></span></p>
<p><strong>Choose Areas To Develop</strong></p>
<p>Which areas of your life do you want to open up to new ideas? A simple example would be if you find that you&#8217;re eating the same things all the time, perhaps you&#8217;d like to try some variation in your menu. To get your mind used to the idea, try at least one new food or recipe each week. It&#8217;s a simple and realistic approach!</p>
<p>You could start with one small area to open up to new ideas, and then gradually include more areas of your life. Starting small can help you ease into having an open mind, instead of making a sudden, drastic change in your life. </p>
<p>These tips will help you become more open to new ideas:</p>
<p>1.	<strong>Fight the urge to react in anger when you hear differing opinions. </strong>Instead, take a moment to yourself to find the wisdom to understand that everyone will not hold the same opinions as you. Try to put yourself in the other person&#8217;s shoes and see things their way. </p>
<p>2.	<strong>Avoid closing yourself off.</strong> Welcome new situations that are different from those you&#8217;re familiar with. When you&#8217;re exposed to differing opinions, look at them as learning experiences. </p>
<p>3.	<strong>Place yourself out of your comfort zone.</strong> Make the effort to journey out of your comfort zone often. If you have certain anxieties about new situations, you should still take this step, but make these changes slowly. Go to new places and try new things. </p>
<p>4.	<strong>Stay social and make new friends.</strong> You&#8217;ll find that you&#8217;re more likely to discover new opportunities to try new things when you remain social. Your friends might be trying new things that they can introduce you to as well. Also, when you make a new friend, they&#8217;ll likely have a unique set of interests for you to learn about to broaden your horizons. </p>
<p>5.	<strong>Don&#8217;t be afraid to ask questions.</strong> Sometimes the only way to learn more about a certain situation and keep an open mind is to ask a lot of questions to gain a better understanding. While you don&#8217;t want to intrude on someone&#8217;s personal life, if they&#8217;re willing to share information, you should be willing and eager to listen. </p>
<p>6.	<strong>Avoid speculation.</strong> Go out and live the experience before you form opinions about something. Rather than blindly believing what someone else says, or assuming that you won&#8217;t like it, find out for yourself if you like something or not. This could be as simple as trying a new food, activity, or hobby. </p>
<p>When you have a positive attitude about new experiences, you can open yourself up to new discoveries every day. It&#8217;s a great way to keep your life fun and exciting!</p>

You were created with a unique set of talents that no one else has. Plus, everyone makes mistakes. We&#8217;re only human!</p>
<p>Becoming more accepting of yourself and loving yourself for the fine person that you really are can lead you to greater happiness and a more fulfilling life.</p>
<p>Here are some excellent techniques you can use to help you better accept yourself:</p>
<p><strong>1.	Focus on your positive qualities.</strong> Even though self-improvement is a good thing, it&#8217;s important that you identify and focus on your positive qualities, rather than concentrating on the qualities you feel negatively about.</p>
<p>•	Maintaining this positive focus will not only help you better accept yourself, but it&#8217;ll also make it easier for you to attain your goals by utilizing your talents to boost yourself forward.<span id="more-485"></span></p>
<p><strong>2.	Consciously prevent negative thinking patterns.</strong> Negative thinking can really snowball fast if you don&#8217;t get ahead of it. It&#8217;s okay to be in a bad mood every once in awhile and have some negative thoughts; it happens to everyone. The trick is in learning how to push those negative thoughts aside and replace them with something positive.</p>
<p>•	Replace your negative thoughts about yourself with affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements that affirm your positive qualities and help bring out the best in you. You can find affirmations in bookstores and on websites, or you can write your own.</p>
<p>•	If you believe in yourself, you can do it. It&#8217;s really that simple.</p>
<p><strong>3.	Accept your imperfections.</strong> Another part of being human is having some imperfections. Instead of dwelling on the things you can&#8217;t change, accept them for what they are. Making the best of your life starts with accepting your imperfections.</p>
<p><strong>4.	Use positive self-talk.</strong> Positive self-talk can help you achieve great things and change the way you think about yourself. Make it a point to give sincere compliments to yourself.</p>
<p>•	Compliment yourself for the good things about your looks, your positive qualities, and every time you do something right. Do this each and every day until it becomes a habit.</p>
<p><strong>5.	Disregard what other people might think about your decisions.</strong> You&#8217;ll never make everyone else happy. If you try, you&#8217;ll soon discover that, not only will other people still be unhappy, but you&#8217;ll also be exhausted and unhappy yourself.</p>
<p>•	Make your own decisions according to your priorities and be confident that you&#8217;ve done what is right for you. </p>
<p><strong>6.	Avoid worrying.</strong> Worrying will never help your situation. Rather than wasting your time by being engulfed in fear, take action to do what you can to make the situation better. If there&#8217;s nothing you can do to change it, focus on moving forward in other ways. </p>
<p><strong>7.	Try your best and accept that you&#8217;ve done what you could.</strong> Do your best every day and be proud of yourself for your efforts. Let go of any negative thoughts, such as being angry with yourself for not being able to accomplish an impossible feat. </p>
<p>•	Even when you haven&#8217;t done your best, find a way to forgive yourself. Move on and commit to trying harder next time.</p>
<p>In changing the way you think about yourself, you&#8217;ll also change the way you see the world. Every day opens up new opportunities for you, and by utilizing positive thinking, you can make a real difference!</p>
